I'm pretty sure this is my first time shooting astrophotography this year. It has been too cold, too cloudy, I was too tired to stay up, whatever the reason..... it just hasn't happened until last night. Everything was (mostly) right and I had a short night at work, so I decided I wanted to try to capture the Milky Way core. I tried several locations that just didn't work before I finally settled on old reliable Mammoth Park in Mount Pleasant, PA. I did not achieve my objective (my core shots weren't all that great) and the clouds were starting to come in on me by the time I got set up, but I think the clouds give this shot a lot of character. For a night that was not a "night off from work - go shoot the stars" night, I'd call it a success.
