What is it? I don't know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I went to Chestnut Ridge Park a/k/a Acme Dam Lake because the conditions were right for possible Aurora. This would have been my third time shooting the Aurora if I caught it. My wife soldiered along with me on this shoot and I have to give her props, she hung out with me for quite a while until she retreated back to the truck and said it was too cold. WTF, Mother Nature? It was 43 degrees IN JUNE!!
What is over the left side of the image is consistent with light pollution in the area that I have caught shooting here before. The gold to the middle and right? It could be smoke from the Canadian wildfires underlit by stuff in the area, it could not be. Is it Aurora? I honestly don't know. I want it to be, but I also am really leaning towards "I don't THINK so...." Regardless of what it is, I love capturing the beauty of the night sky. It is so relaxing to come out to a dark place and just sit under the stars.
